Halloween!!

Happy Halloween!!!
October is the start of 3 months of Holiday fun for us!! We squeezed in lots of fun with eerie crafts, creepy foods, and dabbled in a little potion making!

Edible Alien guts!  He must’ve just eaten a frog and some frog eggs...and we’re not sure what kind of animal the bones are from!?!? 😝

So, one of my favorite Halloween memories is watching a movie called “The Worst Witch.”  It was not the most popular movie, but thanks to technology, I was able to purchase one off Mercari. It’s basically about a little girl who’s learning to be a witch, but she is innocently terrible at it! Failing at broom flying, potion making, and fitting in with the other mean witches (so it has a great moral story too). But the process of the potion making gives me such a nostalgic feeling- I just love it! And now so do Ama and Merek....and potion making has become a Halloween tradition!  Some of our potion ingredients include scabs, spider eggs, corpse ashes, toad blood, toad warts and more! Mix it up with a little magic (vinegar) and some Hocus Pocus (baking soda) and the concoction might turn you invisible, give you a laughing spell, or turn you into a rat!!! Mix it up to see what you get!

Pumpkin carving with Joe-pah!!
It’s always a fun competition, the kids did great this year doing a lot of the carving work themselves (that observation is likely skewed as Ama was my partner- not Merek LoL!)

A troll brain!!

We have a favorite book called Boo La La Witch Spa, where an exhausted witch gets some much needed Spa treatments the night after Halloween. She enjoys doing laps in a  Toad Drool Pool and receives a Hot Stone Massage by a Troll, then enjoys some Hex Mix and Jinx Drinks! Always looking for an opportunity to share some fun at Ama's school, I asked if I could do a reading in for her class and bring in some snacks...
Hex Mex and Jinx Drinks of course!!

My helper!

Oma created a super fun Halloween nosh tray for a night with the kids!
Shrunken heads in ‘formaldehyde’, witches fingers, spider brownies, eyeballs and more!! The kids loved it!

A scary troll crept in the back door!! Ahhhhhhhhh
(🤫 It was just Mista Greg)

If you haven’t watched the movie Descendants...you should!! It is so cute, full of great songs, fun teenagers, and lessons about fiendship and choosing good over evil.  And decently enjoyable for a parent to watch. (O.K. Yes, I know the lyrics to a few.......some........ok, most of the songs!!)

Ama chose to dress up as Mal from descendants, and Merek is her tough guy sidekick...

Courtney’s sister Jenny and her hubby John graciously hosted Halloween at their house. It was a very fun night for all the kids and adults!

Jenny had the house decorated with cute Halloween stuff, including a spooky room with blind grab buckets full of creepy and gross Halloween items

The neighborhood we Trick or Treated in had some awesome decorations....and candy! A few houses even gave out Full size candy bars!!

As is typical for Halloween in Florida, it was a pretty warm night and the stripping of costumes happened quickly lol- but everyone still looked adorable 😊

Let the candy bartering begin!!

Showing off our loot!

Cute twinsies

Trick or Treating and candy eating is exhausting!!
